The blockbuster which premiered ten days ago, March 4, 2016 has hit $112 milion in 10 days at the Chinese box office.
According to data from film industry Artisan Gateway, the tale tale of mammalian metropolis has grossed a total of $112.6 million since its March 4 release, gaining momentum after its opening weekend and pulling in 88 million in the week ending Sunday.
In the imagined society of animals that resemble the human world, Jason Bateman and Jennifer Goodwin lead the voice cast as a fast-talking scam-artist fox and by-the-book bunny who forge an unlikely friendship when a mystery is discovered.
Britain’s A-list actor Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Jenny Slate and Octavia Spencer are also among the Walt Disney Animation title, directed by Byron Howard (Tangle and Rich Morel Wreck-it Ralph) and co-directed by Jared Bush.
Zootopia has already become the third-highest grossing animated film ever in China, behind only DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 3 ($152.2 million) and the local Chinese Production King: Hero Is Back (147.1million), added the firm.
By comparison, Zootopia has earned about 142 million in the US and Canada.
Other films to watch out for this month include, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice which opens on March 25th and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 will also premier on the same day.
