Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the release dates Thursday morning during the Mouse’s annual meeting.
The Force Awakens will be unleashed as a digital home entertainment download on April 1, followed by a Blu-ray release on April 5.
The Lupita Nyong’o -starring film set a new industry record for domestic box office in racking up more than $900 million since its December 18 debut. The worldwide haul of the epic, directed by J.J Abrams, has topped $2 billion.
Disney shareholders received special ‘Star Wars’ posters in the swag bags for the meeting as well as a special code for a free download of “Force Awakens” when it goes live on April 1.

Another news at the meeting, Iger announced plans to add two new Disney cruise ships to its fleet. And Iger said the company would donate $250,000 to the group mounting an effort to restore the birthplace of Walt Disney in Chicago.
