Kung Fu Panda 3 has once again topped the box office with an estimated $21million and a domestic total of $69.1million.
Newcomers Hail, Caesar had the best weekend and the Coen brothers take on old Hollywood, which opened in 2,232 theaters was the only film that lived up its box office expectations, earnings @ 11.4milion for second place.
The choice, another new release, also cracked at the top five, ending the weekend with an estimated $6.1million.
The Nicholas sparks romance which stars Teresa Palmer and Benjamin Walker, opened in 2,631 theatres a week before Valentine’s Day and earned a B+ Cinema Score. It’s the 11th sparks adaptation to make it to the big screen and it’s the first one to debut below $10 million Pride And Prejudice And Zombies the period horror piece didn’t perform as expected, earning only $52million for the weekend in 2,931 theaters. It earned a B- Cinema score and was placed sixth.
Instead, holdovers Star wars: The Force Awakens and The Revenantheld on to their grip on the top five; Alejandaro Gonzaloz Inarritu’s The Revenant added another $7.1million to its total, bringing the Leonardo DiCaprio – Starring drama up to $149.7million domestically.
Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Force Awakens took fourth place with $6.9 million domestically and it set a new record, becoming the only film in History to make more than $900million domestically. (Through Sunday its estimated domestic total was $ 906million) Globally it became the third movie ever to cross $2billion, joining Titanic and Avatar.

Disney reported that as of Saturday, The Force Awakens had officially more than $2billion worldwide, making it the only third film in history to hit that number. On Friday, 5th February, the Lupita Nyong’o – starring Sci-fi picture had made $900million domestically becoming the only film in history to hit that number.

The Force Awakens new global total is one more achievement which can add to its long list of box office accomplishments. Since premiering, in December 18th, the film has set multiple records, including the biggest Domestic opening day of all time ($119.1million), The Biggest domestic ($247.9million) and global ($528.9 million) best opening weekend ever, and the fastest film to reach $1billion (12 days of global release.
